Bevan & Buckland Wealth Management sponsors young soccer prospect

A local young footballer has thanked a local firm of independent financial advisers for helping him achieve his dream – of representing Wales.

Bevan & Buckland Wealth Management, a specialist practice of Independent Financial Advisers with branches in Mumbles and Swansea, has sponsored Jesse Howes, a 16-year old student and promising footballer from Gowerton Comprehensive School, for several years now.

Jesse recently fulfilled his dream when he was selected to play for the Under 16s Boys and Girls Clubs of Wales in a fixture against Scotland – a game his team won 4-3.

Described as a dynamic centre midfielder, Jesse also plays for Llanelli Town FC and Mumbles Rangers FC.

He has now been selected as part of a 16-strong touring party to play in an upcoming 4-Nations tournament in Northern Ireland comprising Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland.

Jon Francis, Managing Director of Bevan & Buckland Wealth Management, first met Jesse as his rugby coach at Under 12s level. When Jesse chose to concentrate his efforts on football, Jon took the decision to continue supporting him in every way he could.

Jon Francis said:

“Having known Jesse since his U12 rugby, I could always see that he was a very talented sportsman. Ultimately, I realised he would have to make a choice between rugby and soccer.

“Despite him picking soccer over rugby, we knew that he was most certainly a player worth our backing. We have done everything we can to help him in recent years and seeing him get his first cap for Wales makes me very proud. I hope it will be the first of many more.”
